The 'Grandma's Boy' Wild Ale Blend By Bellwoods Brewery Is An Expert Level Sour

You are not ready for this one folks. Or at least we sure as heck weren’t. For EP29 of Beats On Repeat we checked out the ‘Grandma’s Boy’ wild ale blend from Bellwoods Brewery. They are based out of Toronto and have a refreshingly sincere and earnest take on what it’s like to own and operate a brewery. They skip the cliched brewery mission statements for something more honestly mundane, but also much more relatable. Tired and worn out sentiments of craft beer altruism are replaced with humorous anecdotes about malfunctioning bottler machines. It’s great to hear an organization being so candid. This wild ale blend is brewed with Niagra shiro plums, several bret strains, and spent a year in French oak. True story- it is a nuclear bomb in terms of tart content. If that’s not your thing, this beer is not for you. However! If you enjoy an intense sour, the Grandma’s Boy is fantastic. It’ll kick your ass with the first few sips but hang in there and you’ll be in for a wild ride. Brave faces, everyone.
