BORP 44: PJ Harvey's Let England Shake/ Event Horizon/ Taylight Brewing and Brassneck
Welcome to EP 44 of BORP. We are very excited to bring you all sorts of neat content about music, film, and beer. Mickey is speaking more and more in French lately so there is also that. Tristan discusses his various Star Wars themed socks while Mickey has some slightly more intimate swag that none of us saw coming. We try to figure out the difference between internet rap and Soundcloud rap but don't make much progress. As the pandemic wears on and the liquor stores shelves are getting a little slim Tristan and Mick went in different directions for the beer picks (6:22). Mickey went super new and indie with a black pilsner from Taylight Brewing, where as Tristan returned to his dark master Brassneck with the Employee of the Month American Pale Ale. For our album pick (26:40) we went with the harrowing Let England Shake by PJ Harvey, and examine her exquisite writing documenting England's role in the horrors of modern warfare. Things don't get any more rosy for our film pick (1:25:13) as Mickey selected the 90s sci fi horror black sheep Event Horizon- dust off those latin textbooks! For New and Noteworthy (2:10:44) we check out music by Ela Minus, Breakbot, Kari Faux, and Many Voices Speak. As we wind down with Three Questions (2:32:42) Mickey asks Tristan to predict when he thinks the next world war might start. Maybe not today, definitely not tomorrow, but maybe at some point?
