Tristan's Top 50 Albums of 2020
From Arca To Yves Tumor, The folk ballads of Taylor Swift to the invective tirades of Run The Jewels, 2020 was wild

At this point it seems a little risky to jump the gun to congratulate us on making it through 2020. After all, as of this publication there’s still about a week left in the year for the galactic federation of planets to activate the monoliths around the world and destroy us all. And on a more sobering note, a lot of us didn’t make it. There isn’t a lot in 2020 to be thrilled about, which is perhaps why the breadth of excellent music this year seems all the more potent. There will hopefully never be a year like this again, but that also means we may never hear music quite like this again. The incendiary vitriol of groups like Porridge Radio or Special Inerest, the defiant automomy of Arca and Fiona Apple, the introspective glances at the end of times from Half Waif and Phoebe Bridgers, Waxahatche just wrecking all of us. It was a hell of a run so let’s do what we always do and arbitrarily rank the whole thing. Below is my top 50 albums of this cursed year 2020. Sadly as I’m only one person with same time constraints most of us contend with I didn’t have time to do write ups for them all (there’s plenty of long form thoughts to be read on noteworthy music this year else where) so this is just a simple run down. Hopefully there’s something on the list that you too enjoyed, and maybe something you haven’t heard that you're encouraged to check to out.
