Ok friends welcome to EP 35 of BORP. We go through some wild mood swings in this one, everything from the existential malaise of being lost in the Canadian wilderness to nerding the damn hell out over the purest if sci fi fun. But first- some beers. We try some premium content from Four Winds, the Edna Crabapple sour, and a lovey cider from Naramata brewing. Our album pick of the week is the folk-core, sad-core, Canadian-as-hell-core 2001 album Sky Scrapper National Park by Hayden. Mickey gets lost it its vast, ambient vibes and we're still looking for him. For our film pick we go with the best of all the Star Trek films, sorry Wrath of Khan, but its First Contact. Mickey is not quite sold on some of the technical choices while Tristan jettisons pretty much all analytical intentions and just goes into full on hype mode. Elsewhere in the show we have new and noteworthy music from Carl Anderson, JPEGMAFIA, Boys Age, and Angel Olsen. Mickey extols us on the virtues of a gluten free diet because apparently this is a health blog now. Tristan contemplates if we are approaching a reckoning upon which we consider that Nickleback might actually be good? So he's fired. As always find all the tracks we discuss on our Apple Music playlist and listen to the show on iTunes or Spotify or right here.
